A Cross in Alcohol Ink on Shrink Plastic

そしたら 赤ベースの作品も作りたくなって😆 Recently, I created a piece for a Christmas exhibition  using green as the base color. After finishing it, I felt inspired to create another piece —this time with red as the base. I prayed and asked God, “What should I create for the red-based piece?” Then, all of a sudden, the image of a cross came to mind. That makes sense.  💫 Jesus, the true Light, came to earth for the cross,  so creating a cross felt just right. 私 もしかして天才?😆 I didn’t do any calculations. I simply drew the cross by feeling. Later, when I measured it, I discovered that  it was almost exactly the golden ratio of a cross—1:1.618! Maybe I’m a genius aft...

“Fear not,  for I am with you;  be not dismayed, for I am your God;  I will strengthen you, I will help you,  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10) It’s often said that there are 365 instances of “Fear not” in the Bible. , suggesting that the Bible tells us "Fear not" every single day of the year! Perhaps this is because fear is a constant in our lives.  We all have fears to some ...

(There is an English explanation at the bottom.) I just love them.  So when I found this miniature size frame, I immediately bought 10 of them.  Then, I made a miniature size picture  with a motivational quote to match by using shrink plastic.  The vase is part of my miniature collection.  I bought it more than 30 years ago.  When you look at the picture, you might get the illusion that these flowers are  huge.

It's dangerously hot and humid these days.  People (namely me) are easily irritated over small matters in such a condition.  Small matters, like finding tossed socks on the floor  or finding trash bags left on the porch  even though I asked my husband to take them out.  In those situations, I look up the frame of "Ma-Ma Panda".  Ma-Ma is a kind of soothing expression in Japanese.  We often use it when we try to calm or comfort somebody.  I made a whole bunch of pandas and Ma-Mas out of shrink plastic.  They make me chuckle and calm me down.

(There is an English explanation at the bottom) 見てるだけで ちょっと涼しく♪ I made this brooch inspired by ripples on the water.  I drew ripples spreading across the water with cold-colored pencils.  I drew the lines with strong strokes using my knuckle.  After I baked the shrink plastic, I waved it while it was still hot.  I think the brooch is good to add some refreshing feeling  to summer clothes in this very hot season.

There is an English explanation at the bottom. When I first read this quotation, this image popped up in my mind .  I've read a story about huge elephants  that were tied to trees  with only small ropes.  It was obvious that they were strong enough to break away from the bonds.  However, they never did  so,  because when they were still young and small,  they were tied with the same size ropes  which were strong enough  to hold them.  As they grew  up, they were  conditioned to believe they cannot break away,  so never tried...

Einstein Quote

The annual exhibition of my husband's watercolor painting class is just around the corner. This is one of my art pieces which will be on display there.  This Einstein  quote made me think about the  Japanese sense of values.  I think Japanese people have a tendency  to  put higher value on equality rather  than uniqueness.  It  seems to me that schools, societies and even families  try to put people i nto one  mold,  the  s o-called "normal".  I think this quote is a  wa...
