ちょうど １年前の今日、
外階段に 立って,
I was standing at the staircase of Desert View Watchtower
in Grand Canyon National Park.
目の前に 広がる
広大な 光景に 圧倒されていた。
I was overwhelmed by the breathtaking vast view.
There were many tourists and tour buses
so that I even had some difficulty finding my own bus.

もし あの時
「今日から １年後、ここには 観光客の姿は 全くなくなって、
いるのは 野生動物だけに なるんだよ」
なんて 言ったら、
だれもが みんな
私の頭が おかしくなった と 思ったことだろう。

何もかもが 閉鎖されている。
もし あの時
「今日から １年後、ここには 観光客の姿は 全くなくなって、
いるのは 野生動物だけに なるんだよ」

私の頭が おかしくなった と 思ったことだろう。
Who imagined that just about one year later,
the whole Grand Canyon National Park was closed including all visitor facilities, trails and roads due to COVID-19?
でも 今は それが 現実になってる。
だれも 予想だにしなかった 現実。
If I said that day, there would be nobody but wildlife here one year from now, surely people would have thought I was crazy. I myself cannot believe it's actually happening now.

だれも 予想だにしなかった 現実。
